Naturimseewinkel.at is a website about nature in eastern austria, espacially the Neusiedler See – Seewinkel National Park.
The „Neusiedler See“ is a steppe lake and is situated between the easternmost parts of the Alps and the western part of the Small Hungarian Plain. From the biological point of view this area offers a variety of habitats: Alpine, Pannonic, Asian, Mediterranean, and Nordic influences enrich the extra-ordinary diversity with more than 340 different bird species.
Gilbert Hafner, MSc
Born and grown up very close to the National Park I went to vienna to study „Wildlife ecology and wildlife management“ at the university of life science. From 2010 to 2016 I worked as nationalpark ranger, birdwatching guide and ornithologist, since the end of 2016 I work at the Biological Station Lake Neusiedl in Illmitz.
Wine
The area around the lake Neusiedl is also famous for wine. You can visit me at the vineyard „Göschl“ in Gols to have a talk about the aerea around lake neusiedl and taste some great wines.
